Our property is just under 150 years old and the room's layout, low ceiling and lack of right angles provided a stern challenge. The work was fully completed to a high standard and the finished kitchen looks brilliant - it has been much admired by our friends. All staff were professional , reliable and respectful of our property, as well as being happy to answer any questions we had. They were also flexible to our requests for changes and extras as the job progressed. Also, when a unit hinge failed after completion, it was replaced swiftly and without fuss.

Your team were pleasant, well-mannered, despite the difficulties encountered in getting steel beam manoeuvred into the basement and the discovery of a large concrete hearth resting atop the kitchen ceiling - not something that was in the original plan! They were happy to keep us informed and answer our questions. They treated our home with respect and we were grateful for their clearing up operation at the end of a long, dusty shift. I initially selected R.S. Aston Builders due to the large number of accreditations from regulatory/industry bodies and the commercial client list. I also liked that it is a family run business. Right from the start, I was impressed at the responsiveness and professionalism that is characteristic of this company. Richard's quote was thorough, thoughtful and was the only one I received which included protecting the surrounding area from dust and damage. He and I stayed in constant contact via phone, text and email as we finalised plans. The invoice (received after completion of work) was clear, the costs transparent and consistent with the proposal. Richard even passed on some savings from the waste disposal.

Richard's project planning skills were also much appreciated - every detail was considered and outlined in the proposal, including some I had not thought of. He and the team provided design advice throughout the process too.

On day one, Richard, Darren, James and Steve arrived on time and started work immediately, setting a pattern for the week. The whole team was friendly, courteous and hardworking. They very rarely took breaks and stayed as long as required to finish the day's scheduled work and clean everything up each night. There was never any cutting of corners. I had installed a new kitchen before deciding to remove part of one wall to create a breakfast bar (required an RSJ). Every morning they meticulously covered my kitchen and every evening packed all the protective covering away so I could use it. At the end of the week, there was not a scratch on it.

The work was completed to an extremely high standard, every detail beautifully executed. The structural work passed the building inspection with flying colours. Richard and Rob also left the house sparklingly clean, even vacuuming the patio.

After they left, I stood and admired my new breakfast bar with a big smile on my face. Over the last year, we have completed a lot of building work on our house and working with Richard and his team has been by far the best experience; they exceeded all our expectations. We will certainly be asking them to come back when we start the next round of alterations.

Richard, Darren, James, Rob and Steve - thank you for all your hard work! It has been a pleasure.

When we first decided to undertake some building works at our home, we asked around a few people we knew at work and some of our friends and neighbours for any recommendations.
Your name was mentioned to us on 3 separate occasions.
Following our initial telephone conversation I was immediately impressed with your knowledge and professionalism.
After your visit to our house to discuss the works we were even more impressed and your highly detailed and itemised estimate, which we could have used as an instruction manual on how to do the works, confirmed our decision to use your services.
We did obtain an alternative estimates, but to be honest, the detail and overall impression of the estimates received was far inferior to yours with elements of the works missing and rather vague.
When you started the works, all of your staff were introduced to us and immediately began protecting the access routes through our property. All services were identified before stripping out works commenced and we were not without water for more than half an hour.
During the refurbishment of our kitchen, lounge and utility room we were happy to come home from work each day to find our house in an impeccable condition considering the works being carried out.
You kept us up to date with regular updates both via e-mail and telephone and were happy to answer our questions and carry out additional works without fuss.
The whole job was a dream from start to finish, even down to you driving 14 miles from your house with our spare key at 11pm at night when we had locked ourselves out.......
Finally, the finished rooms are superb with first class workmanship throughout. Your chaps take pride in their work and I am not surprised you are always in demand.

"Richard and his team have created a beautiful kitchen and cloakroom for us. Richard gave me invaluable advice at the start of the project and helped me decide on the best layout and finish. He has been understanding and patient throughout the build, and has an amazing eye for detail.
Darren, Pete, Steve, James and the rest of his team are very skilled and have very high standards when it comes to finishing touches. They were always on time, kind and considerate. Richard managed the whole project so I didn't have the stress of coordinating tradesmen, timing etc...I just left them to it and when I came home it was always tidy.
Any work that is carried out in a house creates some upheaval and with two young children, I was dreading it, but they made every effort to make sure we were not without a washing machine for too long and worked around us. My children missed them when the build was over!
I had my old kitchen taken out, a new ceiling, the walls replastered, electrics done, new boiler installed and repositioned, new kitchen units, granite worktops and integrated appliances, floor tiling, carpentry and decorating. The suite in the cloakroom was replaced, floor tiled, and all the pipes were boxed and decorated. I could go on and on, all I can say is that a picture says a thousand words. They speak for themselves, I would highly recommend R.S Aston Builders, I just wish I had found them 5 years ago when I had my bathroom done!!
One thing is sure though, any other project that I undertake in the future will be with R.S Aston Builders."

Hi Richard,
This is the rather-overdue, rather long and rambling testimonial that we said we'd send ages ago and then forgot to! So here goes......

Getting work done on your house is a project, like any project you might
undertake at work. It takes forethought and a willingness to find a
good fit for your needs.

What impressed us about Richard and his team were several things.
Richard spent time with us before beginning the job, understanding what
we wanted and making suggestions for parts of the job we hadn't
considered. This gave us confidence that what we were after was
understood.

Our existing installation had partly been done by a talented amateur.
Richard guided us when amateur work had broken building regulations.

Once the job is underway, there are still small decisions to make.
Richard made sure these were offered to us to make, and was patient in
waiting for us to work out the answers. We never felt that the job was
'running away from us'.

Richard's team covered many skills. Our job involved plumbing,
plastering, tiling, flooring, replacing a door and its furniture,
replacing an external cast iron dirty drain pipe, fitting a bath, bath panel,
sanitaryware, installing a Venturi system shower, cutting a new ventilation exhaust and re-routing the ducting, fitting a new fan and lamps. Richard had all the employees and contacts
needed to orchestrate this multi-skilled team, whilst ensuring the job
progressed daily.

Richard's team have nice customer-facing manners. They were polite,
willing to talk when we wanted information or they needed answers and
left the house very clean each day for us to keep living in while
they worked. Richard's plan also saw to it that we were never an evening
without a real toilet to use.

And last but not at all least, they did a super job. We were
particularly impressed with the bathroom tiling. It is neat. It is
level. It fulfils the ambition of the tiny amount of design artistry we
incorporated into the scheme.

Before Richard's team came to our house, we had a bathroom to horrify
with. Since they've left, we have one which is a pleasure to use.

We would not hesitate to recommend Richard and R.S.Aston Builders for any building works.
